Compassion Coalition Bulletin Board
November 26, 2007
The donation of a motorized wheel chair in response to a recent bulletin board posting will allow the recipient to donate his manual wheelchair to someone else who doesn’t have one at all. God is good, all the time!
Volunteer Opportunity: On Friday, December 7, 2007, a large group of public servants, non-profit agencies and faith-based organizations will gather at the old Convention Center in an effort to help homeless individuals and families take steps toward housing and self-sufficiency.
We need volunteers from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm to greet and guide the clients through this process! The old convention center is located at 525 Henley Street, beneath the downtown Holiday Inn. Please visit http://www.knoxprojectconnect.org for additional information and to sign up as a volunteer- just fill out the simple registration form and mention that you would like to be a greeter as advertised by Compassion Coalition!
Non-profit Need: Hope for Healing.Org in Strawberry Plains serves victims of domestic violence and mentors juvenile offenders. This non-profit organization is in need of a used van or pick-up truck in working condition to transport bags of clothing and other donated items. If you can meet this need, please call Gayle at 865.933.8769 or e-mail her at gayle@hopeforhealing.org.
Volunteer Opportunity: The Furniture Ministry needs groups that have at least one truck and 1 or 2 volunteers to either pick up furniture at Cokesbury Center on Kingston Pike and deliver it to a recipient or pick up a donation and bring it to the Center. (Maps and driving directions are provided.) This ministry is a multi-denominational effort that would not exist without volunteers! The shift is from 9 am – 12 pm, no more often than one Saturday per month. If you want to get involved, please call Charlotte at 251-1591 ext 3 or e-mail her at charlotte@compassioncoalition.org.
